Ingredients
- Filling:
- 1 graham crust (homemade or store-bought) use a chocolate cookie-premade crust see below
- 2 small packages of instant chocolate pudding
- 2 tablespoons of instant coffee regular or espresso
- 3 cups of milk
- 2 cups heavy cream whipped with 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- Garnish: homemade hot fudge sauce (or use your favorite store-bought brand of a jar of hot fudge ice cream topping) Drizzle on top of the pie when serving. Other suggestions: add mini chocolate chips or shavings of chocolate, with sifted unsweetened cocoa powder
- 5 Minutes Hot Fudge Sauce
- 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Crust:
- For the Crust:
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs ( about 15-18 chocolate sandwich cookies remove the middle frosting) or graham cracker crumbs
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- Mix and press into a deep dish pie plate.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 5 minutes.
Instructions
- Whip the heavy cream with sugar to medium soft peaks.
- In a clean bowl beat the two packages of pudding, and instant coffee with milk until it thickens.
- Fold in 1 cup of the whipped heavy cream until all the white is blended evenly into the pudding mixture.
- Pour into the prepared pie crust.
- Top with more whipped cream.
- Sprinkle with cocoa powder, and chocolate if desired.
- Chill pie for at least 2 hours.
- Serve with warm hot fudge sauce over the top.
- When softened place half of it into the cookie crust.
- Top the ice cream with half the jar of hot fudge (you may have to warm it a few seconds in the microwave)
- Add the rest of the ice cream on top.
- Top with whipped topping.
- Note this pie is excellent frozen and when serving place it on a plate and let thaw for around 15 minutes before serving it with hot fudge sauce.
- Hot Fudge Sauce
- Place the milk and chips in a saucepan on medium-low heat and melt them together until smooth.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in vanilla and butter
- Store in a mason jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or sauce can be used immediately.
