- 1 pound low-sodium hickory smoked flavored bacon or applewood
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Optional: 3 tablespoons bourbon
- Optional Garnish: freshly cracked black pepper
Instructions
- Cooking Methods for Bacon:
- Fried: place the bacon in a large deep pan fry until crispy and drain the fat on paper towels

- Here is how we like our candied bacon and it's so simple!
- In a large pan, after frying, baking, or air frying the bacon until crispy, drain the grease by placing the crispy fried bacon on a baking sheet with paper towels on the pan to drain the grease,
- In a clean-deep frying pan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter, and add the maple syrup, and the brown sugar.
- Simmer this mixture( add bourbon for bourbon candied bacon in this step) to a very slow simmer until this thickens around 5 minutes.
- Toss in the cooked bacon and let it just caramelize a few more minutes watching carefully not to burn.
- Add freshly cracked black pepper if desired as a garnish.
- Cool to warm before attempting to eat this and enjoy!
