The good thing about this recipe is it can be partially made the night before, precook the pasta, and sauteed chicken, and assemble then just pop in the oven the next day.
This meal has so many possibilities when adding mix-ins with the chicken, pasta, and Swiss cheese.
The meal can be transformed from ordinary to gourmet with some of our suggestions below including ham (which is more like a cordon bleu casserole) or with the addition of a favorite vegetable you prefer.
It's one of those vintage easy tried and true recipes and the perfect all-in-one pan dinner adapted to your family's taste buds.
If you love rice and chicken that's one of the alternatives to this casserole.
This recipe has NO SOUP and isn't creamy like that (but it does have cheese) so turn back now if that's what you're looking for.
