Ingredients
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter (salted)
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 4 teaspoons of baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1- 3/4 cups of buttermilk ( see tip for homemade version) Note: add 1/4 cup more if necessary and too thick this should flow easily
- Optional: for more savory biscuits top evenly with Italian seasoning, granulated garlic powder, and Parmesan cheese

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
- If making the buttermilk let it stand at least 10 minutes before using.
- See tip notes for homemade buttermilk below.
- Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl (covered or it will splatter) and then pour that melted butter carefully pour into a 9 x 9 (8 cup) baking pan then set this aside.
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together this aside.
- Slowly add the buttermilk to form a sticky dough.
- Spread the dough on top of the the melted butter using a small spatula and spread it out the best you can, (the butter may spill over onto the dough).
- Using a sharp knife cut into the dough to make nine biscuits. (These will leave a scoring effect to help cut when finished baked for individual servings)
- Sprinkle with optional suggestions if using for savory style biscuits on top or leave them plain.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes (at 450 degrees in a preheated oven) or until the edges begin to get golden. and edges.
