Easy Steps for Making Doctored Cake Mixes
- Preheat the oven and prepare the pans you're using: place the oven at 350 degrees and grease pans ( 2- 9 inches 3- 8 inches or a 13 x 9-inch pan) See notes for Swirly pan as shown tips for greasing the pan under TIPS below
- Mix all the batter ingredients together with the cake mix
- Mix all the apple-filling ingredients together in a bowl
- Starting with the batter, pour half into a prepared baking cake pan of choice
- Add the apple filling
- Pour the remaining batter on top and bake for 55 minutes using the toothpick method
- Cool: Invert the cake after 4 minutes and then cool completely
- Garnish with powdered sugar

READ SWIRLY PAN TIPS
When I first used the swirly pan, I won't lie I ruined lots of cakes until I found out of Magic Pan Release!
The mixture of 1/2 cup shortening, 1/2 cup oil(Iused vegetable) and 1/2 cup AP flour mixed together works like a charm, do use that method!
I honestly wanted to throw that pan out and alot of swearing went on until I found this non stick proof perfect mixture for easy release from a reader of mine, in which I am truly grateful!

Cake Mix Sour Cream Apple Bundt Cake
This doctored cake mix using a yellow cake mix, has been transformed into an apple slice of fall spice heaven!

Ingredients
- Doctored Cake Mix Batter Recipe:
- 1 box (about 15 ounces) yellow cake mix
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
- Apple Filling:
- 2 cups peeled, cored, and diced apples
- 1 tablespoon of AP flour
- 2 tablespoons of softened butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- pinch of ginger
- For optional mix-ins see under notes below
- Garnish: Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and heavily grease whatever pan you choose out of the suggestions and set it aside.
- Using an electric mixer, add all the cake batter ingredients to the mixing bowl and beat for 3 minutes. (The batter will be thick).
- In a small bowl add all the ingredients for the apple filling and mix this together to blend evenly.
- Pour half the batter into the prepared pan, then the apple mixture on top evenly.
- Covered the apples with the remaining batter.
- Bake in the preheated oven at 350 degrees for around 55 minutes.
- Note: time will vary depending on the size pan this was based on a bundt pan used in the photo. Adjust the timeless for smaller pans. Refer to the notes.
- Use the toothpick method in the thickest part to see if it comes out clean.
- Cool for 4 minutes before inverting, then cool completely.
- Dust with powdered sugar, and cinnamon sugar or make a thin icing to drizzle over the top.
