Baked Seafood Pasta with Cheese

This creamy cheesy Baked Seafood Pasta recipe is the perfect blend of flavors for any mac and cheese seafood lover and is made in 30 minutes.

We have used cooked crab, scallops, lobster, shrimp, and sometimes even a medley depending on what we have on hand.

The topping is crunchy buttery garlic breadcrumb and addicting in flavor.

The creamy cheeses in this casserole cling to every morsel of pasta and seafood in every bite.

This gourmet-style mac and cheese with seafood is so simple and it tastes like it came from a 5 -star restaurant.

Classic mac and cheese is a favorite in our home however, adding seafood (or chicken mac and cheese for those with allergies) it's a game-changer.

We make this recipe traditionally every Friday during Lent, it's a deliciously easy, and quick casserole to throw together in a hurry.

Step by Step

  1. Grease a casserole
  2. Make a roux until nice it's smooth and creamy
  3. Add the cooked seafood and pasta
  4. Top with buttery breadcrumbs
  5. Bake for 30 minutes that's it! How simple is that?

Other Substitutions and Tips

  • smoked salmon
  • Mahi-mahi
  • haddock
  • shrimp, crab meat, lobster, or another shellfish you prefer
  • cooked chicken breast boneless cubed
  • cooked boneless pork tenderloin
  • cooked cubed boneless steak
  • a medley of surf and turf
  • during lent instead of meat, try cooked broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, or artichoke hearts
  • make sure the roux is smooth you can add all the ingredients to a blender before cooking it
  • don't overcook the pasta seafood (pasta should be al dente and seafood takes just a few minutes to cook refer to the package instructions)
  • any other meat you are using MUST BE COOKED first like chicken, pork, steak, etc.

Baked Seafood Pasta with Cheese

This Creamy Baked Seafood is a cheesy pasta casserole is a perfect recipe with added crab, shrimp, or any shellfish you like. A perfect meal during Lent!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of elbow pasta, (or another small pasta like baby shell pasta or mini bow-tie pasta) cooked al dente to package instructions and salt the water
  • 1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 cups shredded Havarti cheese or Gruyère cheese
  • 2 cups shredded extra-sharp white cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of granulated garlic powder
  • 16 ounces of assorted seafood we used cooked shrimp, lobster, crab, bay scallops
  • 1 cup Italian flavored breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees
  2. Spray and prepare a baking dish with butter-flavored cooking spray.
  3. In a deep saucepan melt 1/4 cup of the butter.
  4. Stir in the flour, then whisk to make a roux.
  5. Slowly add milk and cream and keep whisking until smooth add granulated garlic powder and white pepper.
  6. Reduce the heat to low.
  7. Add the shredded cheeses and blend together until melted and smooth.
  8. Stir in the cooked pasta and seafood of choice
  9. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  10. Mix the rest of the melted 1/4 cup of butter with breadcrumbs.
  11. Sprinkle the crumbs on top of the pasta.
  12. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until the seafood mac and cheese and the breadcrumbs are golden brown.
