Chocolate meatballs cookies made with a cake mix the perfect spice cookie for the holiday cookie tray!
Ingredients
- 1 package of Devils Food Cake Mix (15.25-ounce box)
- 1 -3/4 cups of flour
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 1 stick of butter or margarine melted (1/2 cup)
- 1 1/2 cup chocolate chips (I use semi-sweet)
- Optional 2/3 cup chopped walnuts or another kind you prefer
- (for nut allergies use pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds)
- white and chocolate frosting canned or homemade
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place the cake mix in a bowl.
- Add the eggs, melted butter, flour, vanilla, and spices and mix them all together just until blended.
- Fold in chocolate chips and nuts if using.
- Roll into balls with flour hands.
- Place on a lined cookie sheet with parchment paper or a Silpat mat.
- Bake at 350 degrees for around 10 to 12 minutes or until the middle is dry and the bottoms begin to brown.
- Remove from the baking sheet to a wire rack and cool completely.
- Frost with canned frosting either vanilla, chocolate, or both.
- Sprinkle with coordinating colorful candies to match the holiday theme.
- Let dry on wax paper.
- Store in a tight container.
