Scotch Cocktails (Godfather and Rob Roy)

Here are two classic cocktails; "Godfather" and "Rob Roy" both among the most popular ordered cocktail drinks using scotch.

The Rob Roy cocktail dates back to 1894 from the Waldorf Astoria and (similar to the Manhattan which uses rye instead of scotch) and is one of the oldest scotch mixed drinks.

Then we move on to another popular drink made with scotch or bourbon called the "Godfather" that debuted in the 1970s.

A definite favorite cocktail ("Godfather") which acquired its name from "The Godfather" movie and a wonderful combination of flavor using Scotch with the addition of Amaretto,  two perfect ingredients that taste fabulous together.

For those that aren't fond of scotch we added the recipe for the "Godmother" (we wouldn't want to leave her out and offend the Godfather) this cocktail eliminates Scotch and is replaced with Vodka instead.

Both our cocktails are super simple and worth a try at least once and if you're an avid fan of Scotch, you just may love both recipes.

One last thing before you get to making these two marvelous cocktails, if you prefer Virgin Style Cocktails, we have two additional recipes for you for both the "Godfather" and "Rob Roy", that are kid-friendly and nonalcoholic drinks!

Cocktails

The Godfather cocktail has been claimed by  Disaronno (which is the company that makes Amaretto but has yet to be proven) this mixed drink became really popular in the 70s after the movie was released it drifted in popularity for a while, and currently has been revived again in 2020.

Rob Roy is a classic claimed by a bartender in 1894 working at Waldorf-Astoria in New York City, a ritzy hotel believed to be its origin.

No matter who created these two cocktails they remain two of the most popular drinks to date and easiest to make and simply delicious.
