One of my favorites is this chili cheese dog burger.
What are chili cheese dog burgers?
Chili beans, cheese hotdogs, and a dressed to the nines burger that's so amazing you can't stop eating it!
The chili is bursting with flavors and during a great outdoor picnic, this burger is the best of both worlds, hotdogs, and burgers combined with delicious chili.
We love a great chili dog and hotdogs with cheese on top then combined with a seasoned burger and the extra goodies in the chili, it's a winner for sure.
The best part is, the burger is dressed and served with the best of all picnic foods.
Beans, cheese hotdogs, chili, a little heat and wow the burger is so amazing you can't stop eating it!
Take a stroll down to the recipe card and check out the delicious chili and this perfectly cooked burger.
The Chili is Fabulous!
I always make a big pot of this chili.
Putting hotdogs cut up in chili was a childhood favorite.
This also makes the best topping for so many other things, not just hamburgers!
We love this chili on top of baked potatoes.
It's also a great wrap in a tortilla with melted cheese.
If you make a whole pot of it, don't worry you are sure to use it up and it freezes well.
Making the chili with the hotdogs in it was one of the kid's favorites and the perfect combination of flavors.

These Burgers were a Big Hit!
I do have to say, this is an easier way to serve burgers than have all the chopped up ingredients to build your own.
The big difference is they are all dressed and ready to eat.
The last few barbecues we had, it rained, that's where this idea came from.
From that day on, everyone asks for me to bring these burgers to a family outing everyone raved about them.
Cooking the Burgers
I usually cook the burgers on the grill, but rain or shine there are options to choose from.
You can make these in on top of the stove in a cast iron grill skillet or any kind of pan with a lined grill interior.
I also have baked them in the oven on a cookie sheet.
You can cook your hamburgers anyway you like.
I love ciabatta bread for the bun, you can also use any kind of hamburger buns you prefer.
Tips:
- I like to use raw hamburgers mixed with seasoning for the best flavors.
- Use any kind of hamburger you like.
- Cook the hotdogs first before adding them to the chili.
- Use any kind of peppers, hot, jalapenos, or bell.
- For cheese lovers and additional toppings, shredded sharp cheddar, pepper jack or provolone
- Make a big pan of chili to top potatoes, filled tortilla wraps or freeze it for another time
- Serve on the side for guests to top the burger themselves
Bread to Use
As I mentioned before, my favorite it ciabatta rolls.
You can use a flour tortilla and make a wrap, use pretzels roll buns or Kaiser rolls are all ones I have tried.
The chili is nice and thick so it won't be soggy since it is a hardy bean chili.
You could even use garlic bread for another option.
Different Kinds of Beans
I usually use chili beans in a mild sauce for my chili.
You can substitute white beans and black beans in a can also.
Just add the flavoring packet for a quick-style chili using taco seasoning mix.
I also add more spices to my chili including instructions in the recipe.
