So Many Versions
This is a chicken with a luscious lemon sauce served over any kind of pasta or even rice.
In Italy, their dish is called "lemon chicken" (pollo al limone) however it's a whole chicken that's roasted with white wine, fresh lemon juice, fresh thyme, and some diced vegetables.
Spain is similar to how the Italy version except with pine nuts and rosemary.
Then there is a Chinese lemon chicken made totally different with batter.
This is a delicious light lemony sauce with boneless chicken breasts sliced thin served with pasta.
I never tire of making this simple meal and its so easy to whip up any night of the week.
The Pasta
Everyone is different and has their own preference.
We like our pasta cooked al dente, with a little bite.
My dad only liked the linguine with this recipe, always cooked soft not hard, he would say it was raw.
My kids are huge fans of rigatoni, the list of differences goes on and on who likes what.
That being said there is no right and wrong just make whatever kind your family likes.
Simple and Elegant
This dish is so simple but can look like you spent all day cooking.
With a few slices of lemon on top and fresh parsley garnish, it looks like it came from a 5-star restaurant!
The flavors are perfect with chicken and the citrus tenderizes the meat which is another bonus!
Suggestions:
- Use only fresh lemons
- Butter is a must for flavor
- Only use a white wine that you would actually drink and good quality
- Fresh parsley chopped has the best flavor
- Add chicken broth of pasta water if the pasta is too dry
- Grated Pecorino Romano and red pepper flakes make a great garnish on this dish
- Always use fresh garlic
Tips
- Always salt the pasta water
- Reserve some of the pasta water to keep the pasta moist
- Keep pasta warm until chicken and sauce are done
- Lemons look pretty dipped in granulated sugar or dipped in honey and added on top of the pasta bowl
- For stronger lemon flavor, grated 1 tablespoon of lemon peel to the sauce

- chicken breasts
- flour seasoned, granulated garlic, salt, pepper, parsley and oregano ( place in a large plastic zip-lock bag)
- olive oil or canola oil
- butter
- white wine
- lemons juiced then sliced
- minced garlic
- extra virgin olive oil
- For Pasta:
- grated cheese
- butter
- olive oil
- minced garlic
- your favorite pasta
- reserved pasta water
- Options: sliced lemons dipped in sugar and grated lemon peel

This is a lemon chicken sauteed then added to a wine and butter sauce served with your favorite pasta .
ingredients:
- 3 boneless chicken breasts sliced thin
- 1 1/2 cups flour seasoned with 2 teaspoons each granulated garlic, salt, pepper, parsley and oregano ( place in a large plastic zip-lock bag)
- canola oil for frying
- 2 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 2 fresh lemons juiced then sliced for garnish (also see tips)
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- Note for stronger lemon taste add grated lemon peel around 1 teaspoon and 3 lemon slices in the sauce along with the juice
- For Pasta:
- Grated cheese
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic in oil
- 1 lb linguine pasta cooked to package directions or use your favorite pasta
- reserved pasta water see below

How to cook Lemon Chicken Pasta
- Shake the chicken into the flour mixture. Fry on medium-high heat until browned on each side around 2 minutes on each side. Place in a baking dish.
- In a small saucepan, add the lemon juice, wine, butter, olive oil. Also, add minced garlic and bring to a boil.
- Pour over the chicken and place the lemon slices on top. Place in a preheated oven of 400 degrees for 25 minutes.
- In the meantime cook the pasta to package instructions.
- Drain leaving around 1/2 cup pasta water in the pan.
- Toss with 1/2 cup grated parmesan or romano cheese, garlic, oil, and butter. Salt, pepper to taste.
- To serve place pasta on a plate with chicken and lemon sauce over the top.
