The original 7-layer magic cookie bars usually have semi-sweet chocolate chips, maybe a peanut butter or butterscotch chip with coconut nuts, and topped with a can of sweetened condensed milk but these are a Holiday version and so pretty in red and green.
You can use and colorful dried fruit and nuts you prefer but we love cherries or cranberries for this festive holiday cookie bar and it sure is a nice addition to any cookie tray!
Since the recipe is so versatile we will give you many other suggestions you can substitute our ingredients with, however, these are super tasty and everyone raves about how pretty they are.

Creative Holiday Combinations
Blueberry, white chocolate, and red cherries are also perfect for the Patriotic holiday.
If you have a party with a gender reveal use large colorful broken-up blue or pink melts instead of plain chocolate chips and if it's a secret use a lemon chip for a neutral color.
Easter is another fun magic cookie bar treat using pastel-tinted chocolate on top and then orange and dark chocolate for a Halloween fun twist on this versatile cookie bar.
