Easy Smoked Pork Chop Soup
Our soup is quick and easy to make since mostly everything is pre-cooked however it's so basic and easily adaptable.
If you have time to cook the beans from scratch using dried from a bag or substitute fresh-cooked chicken stock instead of water and fresh diced tomatoes, this soup can be adjusted and made either way.
Of course, many other additions you prefer can be added and we will give you a list of suggestions for add-ins below that can make this simple soup into an even heartier all-in-one meal!
My family is a bit pickier when it comes to vegetables in the soup so I use what they like in this basic recipe so adapt away!
Smoked Pork Chop and Bean Soup Shopping List(refer to the printable recipe card for exact measurements)

This Smoked Pork Chop and White Bean Soup is bursting with flavor and is such a simple yet cozy soup of vegetables and smoky pork in a wonderful homemade tomato broth.

Smoked Pork Chop and Bean Soup
Smoked Pork Chops are perfect to make this hearty bean soup with and so flavorful done in minutes!

Ingredients
- 1 pound of any white or small navy dried beans cooked in around 3 quarts of water then drained
- NOTE: (for canned white beans use two large 15 to 16-ounce cans rinsed)
- Soup Recipe:
- 4 to 5 cups of water
- 1 cup or more sliced carrots
- 3 cloves of garlic cleaned and minced
- 2 stalks of celery chopped fine
- 3 fresh vine ripe tomatoes chopped or 1 - 12 ounce can of diced tomatoes
- 3 or 4 precooked smoked pork chops
- 1/4 cup chopped crispy cooked bacon
- 1 small diced onion
- olive oil
- 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme or dried
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or use 1 teaspoon dried
- 2 fresh basil leaves or 1 teaspoon dried
- salt pepper to taste
- pinch of cayenne pepper
- Optional: For a heartier soup.: After the soup is done add rice or a small pasta that is cooked and drained. This additional ingredient will make a heartier soup. ( I did not add this).
Instructions
- Dried beans need to be cooked and drained to package instructions in 3 quarts of water or more if needed.
- Remove the meat from the bone and cube the pork into small pieces.
- In a medium-sized fry pan, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
- Add the pork and minced garlic, onion, carrots, celery, and tomatoes into the pan and saute for around 3 minutes (this is just to flavor the oil and release the flavors from the pork).
- In a large saucepot add around 4 cups of water, beans, salt, pepper, sauteed vegetables, and pork, all the spices.
- Stir in bacon and cayenne pepper if using.
- Simmer for around 40 minutes on low heat on the stovetop or until the soup thickens to your preference.
- Remove the chops take the meat off the bone and put the meat back into the soup pot.
- Slow cooker: add everything to the pot on high for 4 hours to 6 hours.
- Again at the end remove the meat off the bone and add it back to the slow cooker.
- Instant Pot: Pressure cook to the instruction book for 25 minutes.
