Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate

I just love this pudding because it's so creamy rich and reminds me of my childhood.

This chocolate rich creamy pudding brings back the best memories of my mom when making desserts.

I reminisce back to those days as a child when mom gave me the spoon to lick.

Then I also got the rest of the pudding and all the residuals to scrape left in the hot pan so this recipe is very special in my heart.

You will not want to leave one drop of this delicious chocolate pudding it's so smooth creamy and decadently delicious.

It's made from scratch and so much better than any packaged pudding.

Even if you make this recipe just for special occasions it's sure worth the time and I am here to tell you everyone will want you to make it again.

I know everyone's in a hurry and it's so much easier to make a packaged pudding but this one is nothing like those pre-packaged in flavor!

Tips

  • I make it every chance I get as soon as the milk is about to expire!
  • Seriously, it's the best way to use up almost soured milk!
  • Always place a piece of wax paper on top so it doesn't form a skin unless you like it!
  • My favorite is to layer graham crackers and chocolate pudding to make a quick icebox cake.
  • Top with whipped cream and then you have another dessert that awaits you. You will not be disappointed after you taste this pastry pudding filling of decadent goodness
  • It's great for cake fillings, pie, pastry, donuts, and pastry tarts.
  • I like to make sure the chocolate melted and the cornstarch is smooth when combined with the milk. I never like lumps in my pudding.
  • When the spoon is coated and sticks it's done. That all there is to it!
  • When filling Italian cakes with chocolate pastry cream use this recipe and use rum instead of vanilla

This recipe is so easy to make a chocolate stovetop pudding and better than any boxed brand.

  • 3/4 cup chopped chocolate semi-sweet chocolate
  • for a darker fudge use 70% bittersweet chocolate
  • 1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3 cups whole milk or half and half

  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla or favorite liqueur

Instructions

  1. Using a glass ovenproof bowl over a pan of boiling water or a double boiler, melt the chocolate.
  2. Combine the cornstarch, sugar, and salt in the bowl. Whisk in the milk then use a silicone heat resistant spatula to blend all the dry ingredients.
  3. Pour all over into the double boiler bowl heating gently just until water is beginning to simmer.
  4. Stir constantly over the simmering water until the pudding is thickened and coats the spoon like the photo, it takes around 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in extract flavoring.
  6. I then place wax paper over the top to prevent the skin from forming.
  7. It's ready after cooling for around 30 minutes in the refrigerator to use in a gourmet dessert or just eat it plain!
