Best Sesame Chicken
The sauce is a combination of honey, ketchup, soy sauce, garlic, and some spices and takes just minutes to put together.
The sauce can be made the day before and doubled if you love more sauce.
If you've ever eaten this at the Chinese buffet you're going to feel like you nailed this one it's so good.
The chicken comes out super crispy with the addition of cornstarch and the coating is very flavorful.
I prefer to use the thighs since the meat is much juicier to me than breast meat, but you can use whatever boneless meats your family like or parts!
Bake, Stir Fry, Grill, or Air Fry Methods
- NOTE: check the chicken to be at 165 degrees using a meat thermometer in the thickest part:
- Baked: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Place the coated chicken on a greased baking sheet. Spray with cooking oil or drizzle with vegetable oil. Bake for 20 minutes stirring a few times
- Stir Fry: Spray the frying pan with cooking oil. Stir fry the chicken without the coating for just a few minutes on each, add whatever vegetables you're using and stir fry for around 7 minutes making the sauce in a separate pan.
- Grill: Soak the skewers first in water for at least 30 minutes. Thread the chicken on the skewers and grill for 4 to 7 minutes on each side on a preheated grill. Use the sauce for dipping
- Air Fry: Preheated the air fryer to 400 degrees and spray the basket with cooking oil. Spray the coated chicken with cooking oil Air fry the chicken for 5 to 7 minutes.

We love this fried chicken so much and the sauce it's quite addicting so make a double batch of sauce, it's just so delicious.

Cubes of delicious fried boneless chicken in a sesame sweet sauce that clings to every bite and is best served with fluffy white rice you're going to love this recipe if you're a fan of Sesame Chicken.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds of boneless chicken (I use thighs however you can use whatever meat you prefer or parts of the chicken that is boneless. Pork, Beef, or Venison all work great)
- Chicken Coating:
- 2 eggs beaten with 1/4 cup water
- Add to a ziplock bag for shaking the chicken in:
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon roasted granulated garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon each salt and pepper
- Sesame Sauce:
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon roasted granulated garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
- 1/2 cup ketchup or tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon vegetable (or sesame oil it's great but very strong in flavor so use 2 teaspoons, not 1 tablespoon)
- 2 tablespoons more of sesame seeds ( we love them so I use more)
- Optional: for spicier sauce use a dash of cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Cut the boneless chicken into cubes.
- Dip the chicken cubes into the egg mixture.
- Shake in the cornstarch/ flour mixture.
- Fry the chicken in around 2 to 3 inches of hot oil until golden brown around 4 to 5 minutes turning once.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Keep the chicken warm until all the chicken has completed cooking.
- Make the sauce:
- In a large frying pan, you can toast the sesame seeds in 1 tablespoon of butter if you couldn't find they toasted already just until browned and set aside.
- In another frying pan, blend together the ketchup, rice wine vinegar, brown sugar, honey, granulated garlic, soy sauce, and any spices you prefer in the pan heat the sauce until smooth for around 3 minutes.
- Place the crispy chicken in the pan to coat the chicken.
- Serve with fluffy white rice.
