Slow Cooker Asian Bourbon Beef Roast

Slow Cooker Asian Bourbon Beef Roast is the easiest cooking method to make a fork-tender roast with Asian beef (or pork roasts) flavors to serve with sandwiches, rice, or stir fry.

This is a meaty delicious tender roast and when seasoned and slow cooked this Asian-style meat is fantastic in flavor of course, the bourbon gives this its unique flavor.

When slowly cooked correctly it will be easy to shred and taste great just sliced in a place with roasted vegetables or plain white rice.

The setting can be set to low or high and the perfectly cooked roast after a long day of work, shopping, or chores to come home to await you deliciously.

We've included in our recipe card homemade gravy and some other suggestions below when serving side dishes.

The meat is very tough if you don't cook it slowly, just read all the tips before starting and you will have the best Asian Bourbon Beef Roast ever!

Step by Step

  1. Trim the fat on the roast
  2. Add the rub
  3. Sear the roast
  4. Add to the slow cooker with the rest of the ingredients
  5. Slow cook low or high to instructions
  6. Serve with rice, vegetables as a roast or shred to make sandwiches

Tips


  • This recipe is for 3 to 4 pounds of Tri Tip or Round Beef Roast however you can also use Pork Butt or Shoulder
  • Trim the fat where it's way too thick before searing
  • For alcohol-free use more beef broth
  • Use any seasoning you prefer
  • Use a good seasoning rub DIY 
  • Either side up is fine
  • For Teriyaki roast add a little brown sugar, and garlic powder, and  sprinkled on top with pineapple juice instead of beef broth
  • Add liquid if it dries out (add more broth of pineapple juice if using)

Cooking Methods for 3 to 4-pound Beef Brisket


  • Instant Pot Pressure Cooking Method same method as above for slow cooker except for cook time will be for 1 hour and 15 minutes check for tenderness use an instant-read thermometer  internal temperature reads  145 degrees and the meat shreds easily note: 175 degrees if using a pork roast
  • Oven Roasting  Use a Reynolds Cooking Bag (poke holes in the bag around 6), season meat, add ingredients and cook to package instructions
  • Electric Smoker Method season, cover with foil add wood chips, and water to the tray in the smoker, set to 250 degrees cook for 3 to 4-pound  in a disposable pan until it  reaches 175 degrees inside use an instant-read thermometer in the thickest parts
  • Gas Grill  if you have a smoker chamber for the grills this can be done in the same method as electric smoker instructions reach 145 degrees with a thermometer however I use a pan covered with the top of the grill open for the first hour

  • Beef roast

Using this cut of pork needs to be slow cooked however we have used the pressure cooker and it comes out delicious also the instructions are included.

Slow Cooker Bourbon Asian Beef is the easiest cooking method to make a fork-tender roast with Asian beef flavors to serve with sandwiches, rice, or stir fry.

Ingredients

  • 1- 3 to 4 pound boneless Beef Roast (you can substitute pork shoulder also)
  • 2 tablespoons olive or canola oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth or stock
  • cold water
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Rub roast with salt and pepper then place in a 4-quart Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
  2. Brown meat on all sides in oil.
  3. Transfer meat to a slow cooker.
  4. Add remaining oil and garlic.
  5. Add bourbon, soy sauce, ginger powder, and beef broth or stock.
  6. Pour mixture over roast in the slow cooker.
  7. Cover and cook on high for 4 1/2 to 5 hours or on low for 8 to 10 hours, or until meat falls apart with a fork (refer to your instruction guide for your slow cooker).
  8. Serving Suggestions: make sandwiches like pulled beef or make a meal with rice and use the juice for gravy over mashed potatoes.
  9. For a roast dinner:
  10. Transfer roast to a meat platter; cover and keep warm.
  11. Pour 3 cups of the juices into a medium saucepan.
  12. Over medium heat, bring to a boil.
  13. Make a paste of 4 tablespoons of cold water and 3 tablespoons of corn starch to thicken for gravy.
  14. Add into the boiling hot broth and continue to boil and stir until thickened.
  15. To serve, carve meat and spoon some sauce over it.
  16. Serve with jasmine rice and roasted vegetables.
  17. If you would prefer to make pulled pork using a pork shoulder or butt, take two forks and pull the meat apart.
