Cranberry Holiday Gelatin Salad

This is one of our oldest recipes and a Thanksgiving delightful treat for a side dish, cranberries, fruits, and jello.

This sweet and tart side dish goes great with any meats but it's a traditional with our turkey dinner.

This creation is a combination of unique flavors that you really don't have to work hard for it's super easy and made just with a few easy steps

The nice crunch of fall crispy apples, whole cranberries, and pineapple make every mouthful a delightful experience you will soon not forget.

Step-by-Step

  1. prepare the fruits chop the apples and remove the skin place all the fruit in one bowl
  2. mix the jello in another bowl and dissolve in boiling water (see all measurements in the recipe card at the end of this post)
  3. pour over fruit and chill
  4. break up the fruit and jello with a spoon
  5. decorate the top with whipped cream toasted almonds and more fruit if desired

Cranberry Holiday Gelatin Salad

This is a delicious fruity side dish with a little tart and sweet taste to it. Topped with a dollop of whipped cream and toasted almonds, it's one of the oldest and easiest Thanksgiving treats.

Ingredients

  • 1 large Mcintosh chopped apple skins removed ( use any tart apples)
  • 1 can of unsweetened crushed pineapple ( 14 or 15 ounce size)
  • 1 can of whole cranberry sauce
  • 2 boxes of cherry or strawberry jello ( 2- of the 3-ounce size regular or sugar-free)
  • 1 3/4 cups of boiling water
  • 1 teaspoon of Amaretto of almond extract
  • Optional Freshly whipped cream or use a whipped topping, toasted sliced almonds and whole fresh cranberries for garnish

Instructions

  1. Chop the apples and remove the skin add to a medium-sized bowl with the pineapple and juice then add the cranberries and stir to combine.
  2. Dissolve the jello with boiling water in a clean bowl. and add the Amaretto or extract.
  3. Pour this jello mixture over the top of the cranberries with fruit.
  4. Refrigerate until firm 3 hours.
  5. Using a large spoon stir to break up the mixture in the bowl.
  6. Spoon into serving dessert cups and top with whipped cream.and sprinkle with toasted almonds
