Easy Cajun Shrimp Recipe

Cajun Shrimp or Chicken Topped Salad

A delicious cajun slightly bread crumb coated shrimp to top a salad. Perfect for a light lunch or entertaining guests. Enjoy a bit of the Mardi Gras flavors cajun style!
Ingredients
- 1 pound extra large shrimp peeled and deveined and tales removed
- canola or vegetable oil for frying
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 3 eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk or cream
- 1 cup Italian seasoned Panko breadcrumbs
- 1 tablespoon cajun seasoning
- 1 tablespoon Italian mixed herbs, oregano, thyme, basil, and parsley
Instructions
- In a large saucepan heat the oil to about 1/2 inch deep, it should read around 350 degrees on a thermometer.
- Set up your seasoning station:
- Set up a pie plate with the flour, salt, and pepper.
- In a small bowl whisk together the eggs and milk.
- In the last bowl add the cajun seasoning and Italian mixed herb seasoning.
- Add the shrimp to the flour mixture.
- Next, dip into the egg mixture and then coat the shrimp with breadcrumbs.
- Using thongs, add the shrimp one by one to the hot oil until golden brown around 3 minutes.
- Place on paper towels to drain.
- Top assorted salad greens whatever you prefer.
- Note: boneless thinly sliced meats are done the same way cooking time will very on thickness.
- I also for presentation like to add them to skewers and place them on the salad after these are fried and cooled slightly.
- Cooking Methods:
- Air Fryer: place on the basket set the fryer to 425 degrees for 3 minutes or until browned.
- Grilling: Add cooking spray to a cast-iron skillet and grill until browned on both sides for 3 to 4 minutes.
- Baked: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees, place shrimp or meat on a baking sheet and cook until golden browned
- For Cajun Seasoning Recipe:
- 3 tablespoons smoked paprika
- 2 tablespoons fine kosher salt
- 2 tablespoons garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon ground white pepper
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon cayenne
- 1/2 tablespoon dried thyme
- Mix together store in a mason jar in a cool dry place.
- This stays fresh for up to 1 year.
