Lemon, dill, butter, and wine in a creamy sauce go over the top of salmon for a complete gourmet, easy dish, and one of the best reasons to try this recipe if you've never had salmon this way before.
This salmon is not only flavorful but stays moist whether it's baked or grilled.
You can actually use any citrus; it really keeps the salmon moist and tender.

Kinds of Salmon
- chinnook salmon: buttery flavor and firm, meaty texture, which makes it a popular choice for grilling, smoking, and baking
- sockeye: rich and robust in flavor, Atlantic and Norwegian: same type of fish, but farmed and wild-caught salmon
- healthiest salmon: wild-caught Pacific salmon, particularly Alaskan varieties, like sockeye and coho, are generally considered a better choice due to their higher nutritional value and lower levels of contaminants compared to farmed raised
Ingredients You Will Need (see suggestions below for more flavor combinations)
- salmon filets work fine, but for those who want higher fat, go with sockeye, king, and coho(or substitute a different seafood if not a salmon fan; sea bass, halibut, cod, mahi-mahi, or other fish you prefer)
- white wine any brand we stick to sauvignon blanc, pinot grigio, or chardonnay.
- butter
- lemon
- fresh dill if you have to use dried, it will not have the same effect, in my opinion
- sliced garlic
- fresh parsley, flat leaf Italian parsley is what we use
- salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: rosemary sprigs, which is an acquired taste, do not add to much, just a tiny bit
Other Favorite Topping Recipes
- teriyaki sauce with crushed pineapple and a little brown sugar, mango, chopped green bell peppers, pineapple, and papaya
- pecans, brown sugar, and apricot preserves
- fresh lemon butter garlic sliced and fresh dill weed
- cajun spices, tequila, and hot saucechicken broth, butter, and fresh parsley, basil, garlic, with oregano
- jarred pesto
- heavy cream with dill and melted butter poured over smoked salmon after cookingrosemary, lemon wedges, black pepper, and butter
Alternate Cooking Methods
- Stovetop: saute in a gridded style cast iron pan with 2 tablespoons cooking oil or butter, add other ingredients, pan-fry for around 10 minutes, flipping once
- Air Fryer: preheat to 400 degrees, oil spray salmon using an oven-proof pie plate, or place on an oil-sprayed basket. Add whatever other ingredients 2 minutes before completing cooking on top. It takes around 7 minutes or until the salmon flakes easily
- Oven: preheat oven to bake at 400 degrees using the same directions as air frying, but place on bake for 12 minutes with ingredients of choice on top, around 6 minutes into baking
- Grilled: heat the grill to 400 degrees, then place salmon, skin side up, on a gas grill over medium heat, or on a charcoal grill 4 to 6 inches from medium coals
- Note: salmon is cooked when the internal temperature is at 145 degrees
