The little cracks seep through with lines of color and make the eggs look so pretty and perfect for an Easter appetizer buffet table or even for a gender reveal baby shower party.
These are the talk of the party especially when hosting or bringing to a potluck and we even have a list of Natural dyes for those who don't want to use the gel food colors or little bottles of food coloring.
All of them will work to make the most beautiful crackled lines for the prettiest tray of edible Easter eggs, you've ever seen.
Sometimes we just leave them unpeeled and let our guests enjoy the surprise of color inside! These are such a fun project for the kids also.
I was so excited to see the insides of these, they really were beautiful! I love the color blue, but you choose your favorite!
Also, one other thing, try using flavors like soy sauce, and koolaides, soak overnight if you want to pick up flavors!

Easter Crackled Eggs
Crackled Egg Food Art for Easter. The inside of a boiled egg reveals a pretty pattern of colors.
Prep time: 10 MinCook time: 12 MinInactive time: 4 HourTotal time: 4 H & 22 M
Ingredients
- 12 or more uncooked white eggs
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- 3 teaspoons of regular or gel food coloring (made by Wiltons found online and in bakery shops)
- Hot water
Instructions
- Boil eggs to hard-boiled stage. Drain and cool completely.
- Gently crack each egg by tapping with the back side of a spoon.
- Too many cracks or too deeply cracked causes the colorant to get inside too easily and solid spots and color will appear everywhere.
- Take a paper or old towel, and roll the egg under the palm of your hand to spread the cracks around the entire egg would be another method.
- You want a lot of crackling, but not deep cracks and you don't want to lose eggshells.
- Using a glass bowl with a sealable top, add 3 cups of hot water and 1 tablespoon of vinegar.
- Add the coloring of choice to the desired color usually around 3 teaspoons Place the eggs in the desired color (or colors). Let seep for around 4 hours or overnight in the bowl.
- Use as many different colors as you want.
- You can also try tea, soy sauce, beet juice, dye from fruits, and food colorings will all work.
- Sit eggs in the coloring for 4 hours.
- Rinse in cool water.
- Then remove and place on a paper towel to dry.
- Allow the kids or guests to remove the shell inside to reveal their Egg Art
- Peel the eggs and they will have a crackled effect. These are beautiful for making
