Shrimp Parmesan

This dish is called Shrimp Parmesan an easy fried shrimp that's then baked with marinara and topped with mozzarella served on a bed of your favorite pasta.

The steps are very simple and this dish is perfect for hosting a dinner party, especially for all those who love seafood.

Our Italian American dish is a terrific alternative on Christmas Eve as part of the Feast of 7 Fishes here in Florida where we had it for the first time in Key West.

Parmesan is a wonderful cheese, we use Parmesan Reggiano grated with this dish which makes it a star ingredient.

This recipe is so easy and comes together with just a few ingredients in less than 30 minutes!

Shrimp Parmesan Easy Steps

  1. coat the shrimp using a 3 steps breading station with flour, breadcrumbs and eggwash
  2. fry the shrimp, then place them in the baking dish
  3. top with marinara, grated cheese then mozzarella
  4. broil until the cheese melts
  5. serve the shrimp on a bed of your favorite cooked pasta




Ingredients You Will Need to Make This Recipe


  • shrimp
  • egg, beaten with water
  • Italian flavored breadcrumbs
  • salt, pepper, granulated garlic powder, and garlic powder
  • fresh basil and fresh parsley a little bit of dill
  • Parmesan REggiano cheeserated
  • Marinara sauce homemade or store-bought
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Grated cheese for garnishing and more basil
  • your favorite cooked pasta (we used vermicelli)

Cooking Methods



  • You can add this to an air fryer, bake them on a cookie sheet, or fry them on the stovetop.
  • Save time and use bottled marinara and no coating, just use cooked shrimp and layer with cheese and sauce.
  • Air fry the shrimp to save calories for 3 to 4 minutes at 400 degrees.
  • Grill shrimp without the coating is another alternative

Shrimp Parmesan

Shrimp Parmesan

Delicious coated and fried shrimp with marinara topped with melted cheese over a bed of pasta.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon each of salt, pepper, and granulated garlic powder
  • 1 cup Italian flavored bread crumbs or more if needed
  • 3 tablespoons grated Parmigiana-Reggiano and more for garnishing
  • 2 tablespoons assorted fresh herbs, parsley, basil
  • pinch of fresh dill
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 pound of shrimp, peeled and cleaned (I used extra large) tails can be on or off
  • around 1 inch of oil for frying ( approx. 2 cups)
  • marinara sauce (homemade or use your favorite jarred style)
  • 1 cup grated whole milk mozzarella cheese
  • Garnish: torn fresh basil leaves
  • Optional: if you prefer a little heat add some cayenne pepper to the flour mixture

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and oil spray a 9 x 9 baking dish.
  2. Set up a breading station with 3 pie plates.
  3. The first plate should have breadcrumbs with the grated cheese in it with the fresh herbs
  4. The second plate should have eggwash with the water in it whisked together
  5. The third should have flour with granulated garlic powder, salt, and pepper
  6. Roll the shrimp first in the flour, then into the egg wash, and lastly into the seasoned bread crumbs, coating evenly.
  7. Heat the oil in the pan and when hot, fry on each side until golden browned around 2 minutes.
  8. Remove the shrimp onto paper towels to drain.
  9. Place all the shrimp in a baking dish topped evenly with marinara sauce, shredded mozzarella, and broil on high heat until cheese is melted.
  10. Garnish with basil and more grated cheese if desired and serve over your favorite cooked pasta (we use either linguine or vermicelli.
