The savory flavors meld well with that Thanksgiving Turkey or any kind of roasted meats you prepare.
If you have never eaten a scone before, they are light and fluffy in texture, nothing like a biscuit!
These scones are full of cheese and garlic flavor and become quite addicting.
I even love these scones sliced with a little mayo and leftover Turkey after the holiday dinner.
Check out this easy recipe, and do try them this recipe is over 100 years old and been in the family made with love.
We love the sweet breakfast scones as well, but for dinner time these are perfect!
Have a blessed Thanksgiving from our house to yours.
Soft Dough
This dough is so soft and pillow-like with the subtle smells of fall!
We all love this savory style scone and the change from a sweet to herb garlic flavors.
The dough is also so versatile and you can add whatever you like to it with some creativity and suggestions.
Scoring Them
This is easy, even if you make a mistake, just eliminate the line and start over to get them even.
I love mine a little thicker cut so they are moister inside and not overcooked in the oven.
The thinner ones cook a little to fast for my taste.
You can do both styles and make some crispier and cooked longer in the oven.
These are soft and very moist inside.
Pumpkin Herb Cheddar Scones
The cheddar really enhances the flavor in these pumpkin scones.
The herb and garlic just adds a little warmth of flavors and not overpowering.
Add more or less to your taste.
My family really enjoys a little heat added so sometimes I add a 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper or even some chopped jalapeno peppers to this dough!
Get creative and try some additions you may like, olives chopped are another great choice just a few tablespoons or ever some cooked chopped broccoli or spinach.
Sugesstions and Options
It's always best to add a little cream to the top so the cheese will stick better on these scones.
You can also add more spices and dried herbs on top, for me the more the merrier.
I love granulated garlic, with basil and oregano along with lots of Pecorino Romano cheese.
Also, you can add more shredded cheddar on top.
